Despite the loss of the village school and post office over the years, Greys
still retains its charm and attracts many visitors to see the beautiful cherry
blossom in the spring, to watch the cricket matches on the village green and to
visit Greys Court (the home of Lady Brunner) with its beautiful gardens set amid
the ruins of a 14th century fortress.
The estate was given to the National Trust several years ago and is open to the
public from Easter each year.
The village hall has recently been extended and modernised as a memorial to the
late Sir Felix Brunner.
Three generations of the Barratt family owned and worked at the blacksmiths
premises bordering the village green; the last smith died in the late 1980s.
Much of his work can be seen around the village.
The interior of the church and the churchyard are tended by a band of willing
helpers and the rector serves both the parish of Rotherfield Greys and
Rotherfield Peppard.
